The Tranny Shouter

“Trannies!” shouted the Tranny Shouter from his Tranny Shouting Tower. “Trannies, Trannies!” he called excitedly again in the evening gloom. Susan and I walked on. Ah, bless him! We introduced some excitement in his life.

Many thanks to Susan for being my companion on this night out in London and for putting me up on the sofa for the night. It was an exciting first trip for me on public transport as Penny, having always travelled by taxi before (oh, and rickshaw once). We got into Covent Garden by DLR and Central Line and visited Belushi’s which I have been to before many years ago with Michelle. We had a nice meal out and afterwards, we stopped a couple of smart-suited American business types and asked them to take a photo of the pair of us in front of the “Legally Blonde” sign on the Savoy theatre on the Strand. We stopped in a Tapas bar on the way home for a late drink and I’m glad we did, even though we missed the last train and had to catch a taxi.

The plan to go clubbing was a good one, but it was Thursday night for heaven’s sakes and Susan had a 10,000 mile journey home in the dark to look forward to on Friday night. OK, I admit it…we are lightweights! Anyway, it was good to get out again, but Susan makes me feel like such a fraud. I just dip in and out but she is 24×5 and that has got to be such hard work! Susan does also prove that experience counts, as she would never have been rumbled by the Tranny Shouter. I am sure that it was just my awkward, obviously manliness that gave us both away.

Don’t be hard on yourself. No-one shouted tranny while you were on your own. I would suggest you are 10x more likely to ‘spotted’ when there are two of you and 100% certain to be spotted if one of the two is tall or even wearing an especially nice dress that draws the attention in the first place. Glad to see you getting out mid-week. Penny needs to be seen. Btw, does Susan have the weekend off? Hugs TCx

Oh dear, that first paragraph made me spill my coffee. Fantastic – and subtle, too, because by creating this new and slightly pervy subtype of humanity, the Tranny Shouter, you’re dropping the same exclusion-by-labelling bombshell on them that they try to drop on us! Backatcha!

And you’re welcome – it was a good evening, and thanks to you for making it happen! And I agree with Tina about attention: it’s a world of difference being low key and on your own amongst the shadows vs being dressed up and in a small group, which would get attention no matter what. Any two girls dressed up for the evening would get heckled – the only difference is what get shouted.

And Tina, yep, I get the weekend off. Somewhere between London and The North, there’s this telephone box …

    All the best,
    Susan
